Art III just finished our logo design unit! We learned about rules of a good logo, typography techniques, and famous logo designers.
Students first assignment was to sketch 10 logos that represent themselves. I always enjoy this part of the lesson and see their creativity come to life. It’s interesting to see what their first marks on the paper are, and how that changes by the time they get to their last logo sketch. Here is a look inside a few student’s sketchbooks:
Next, Students chose their Top 3. Students met with a classmate for a peer review to discuss strengths & weaknesses, then decide on one final logo. With that final logo, students created 2 versions: a black & white version and a color version. Here are a few finished products:
Every year the BG Country Peddler Publication puts on a “Design an Ad” Contest for Middle & High School Students. This year we had 10 winners from WCHS, 7 recognized as 1st place winners! Students were recognized at a reception Skypac Art Gallery where their artwork was on display. Their advertisements were published in the December 2016 Publication. Our first drawing project of the year was to draw the “vision” of our school’s courtyard that is currently under construction.
Above is a final rendering I drew for our principal. More updates coming soon!
